I was going to buy a stamp after reading this and a couple of other posts. I like the stamp idea, but to be honest I like the letterpress idea more. Unfortunately I can't afford that yet. I'm saving for it but in the mean time I did a DIY business card which leans on the "useful" idea. It keeps the card in the hand of the recipient longer by being useful to them.

I target small business owners in my local area so I have Keyboard Reminder Shortcut Business Cards. They are made on recycled business card stock and printed in a standard printer then cut to size by me. After that I perforated each bottom corner.

Now I have cards that can freely stand on their own when the bottom corners are folded back. The cards themselves are simple, but keep my info always in front of prospective clients. Take a look. If you want to remove the link thats fine, but thought it would be useful:

Comment on A Business Card Made of Copper?! by David Gray

I'm in the precious metal and barter industry and we actually have a few clients that use 1oz round copper medallions as business cards. The expensive part is creating the dies (about $225 per side) but once you are happy with your design, that is only a one-time cost. When we put together copper orders, the cost is between $0.65 - $0.75 per oz, or business card in this case. The neat aspect of partnering with our group is that we require that you put a denomination on each medallion in accordance to our trade network. Clients like this because it allows a venue for their copper medallions to be returned to them. That is, in our network of Merchants, a 1oz copper round trades for a value of "TWO" - equivalent to $2 of goods and services. So if I design a copper business card for my company and hand it out to prospective clients, they not only hold onto the card because it has intrinsic value (unlike some cards that shamefully get lost in piles of cards), but also have the incentive of bringing it back to me for a $2 discount on their next purchase. If they don't need what I have but use the copper currency with another Merchant in the network that accepts copper, my company name circulates with the copper and may eventually make it back to me. It's like free advertising!

Vacation credit cards might be a great deal much much more than pre-printed credit rating cards stuffed in envelopes with mailing labels applied. With some imagination and also the correct greeting card supplier, a greeting card can be a really special, higher higher quality present that projects company professionalism as well as heartfelt wishes for that holiday season.
