“Thank You” Business Cards
Another common marketing message that can be easily printed on a business card and used in a variety of ways is “Thank You.”
Conveying gratitude for someone’s decision to do business with you is something you can hardly overdo – but it’s sometimes difficult to say it in a meaningful way. Saying “Thank you” is polite but when it becomes a standard, everyday, automatic response, it’s just not the same.
So why not create a “thank you” business card? It’s unusual enough to be noticed, and people will appreciate the fact that you thought to do it!
Say you have a card like this printed for your business. You could:
- Have employees give them to their clients.
- Tuck them inside a shopping bag along with their purchase.
- Stick one in an envelope along with correspondence.
- Staple them to receipts, or to packages.
- Put a stack at your desk.
- Pass them out at trade shows.
And on this US holiday of Thanksgiving, we’d like to thank YOU for reading our blog posts and sharing them with your friends!

Thank You on Business Cards
In a recent post I spoke about the human tendency of people to accept whatever is handed to them, and how you can use that to good effect by handing your business card to people you meet.
Of course, if someone isn’t expecting your card, they may not really know what to do with it – but they’ll almost certainly look to see what you handed them.
Which is why it’s smart to make sure that the business card you give them has something useful or interesting or clever on it – something that will help you prolong an existing conversation, or even start a conversation about whatever it is that you do.
Tom Hopkins, the author of “Selling for Dummies”, suggests that you take the time in advance to write “Thank you” across the bottom of a few of your cards and have these ready to hand out.
When you hand someone a business card, and they ask why it says “Thank you” on it, say “I guess I’m thanking you in advance for what hopefully will be the opportunity someday to serve your (whatever your business is) needs.”
Why this particular wording? Because you come across as humble. Nice. Spontaneous. Non-threatening. And because offering to serve someone’s needs makes them feel important!
Now of course – there are other ways to enhance a business card in order to provoke a reaction or initiate a conversation. Adding a hole to a business card would be one option; I’ve mentioned this idea in a previous post.
I hadn’t run across the “Thank you” idea before, though, which is why I wanted to share it with you. I think I’ll go write it on a few of my own cards and I’ll let you know what happens!
